A hack to a better emotional state

Have you ever noticed the powerful connection between your thoughts and emotions?
Here’s what we know: our thoughts govern our emotions.
So, broken down – what are thoughts, and what are emotions?
Thoughts are simply cognitive processes that include our beliefs, ideas, perspectives, perceptions, and anything else that we cognitively process.
Our emotions, on the other hand, are stored in our subconscious mind and are essentially the vibrational energy we experience at a given time. I like to say emotions are simply “energy-in-motion.”
They’re a byproduct of our thoughts, and they’re affected by the mental state we’re in. So if you’re not in the best mental state, your emotions will clearly reveal that.
So, think about that time when you received bad news, and you couldn’t stop thinking about it. Chances are, it put you into a bad mood, and distracted you and made you feel worse.
Have you ever wondered how you can create a better emotional state for yourself? There is hope! It’s possible. Keep reading..
First, we have to identify where our emotions come from.
Typically, our emotions are caused by a number of things. 1) Our thoughts, and 2) our outside circumstances.
But here’s the thing…our outside circumstances don’t have to dominate our emotions!
…Not when we learn how to take the helm of thought.
Here’s a quote that I love by Ralph Waldo Emerson that encompasses this idea very well.
“The key to every man is his thought. Sturdy and defying though he look, he has a helm which he obeys, which is the idea after which all his facts are classified. He can only be reformed by showing him a new idea which commands his own.”
Read that again. Powerful, isn’t it?
Emerson is saying that we have the ability to control our thoughts, and to be reformed when we choose the right thoughts.
When it comes down to it, if we want to change our emotional state, we have to change our thoughts.
Think of it like this. Our emotions are stored in our subconscious mind, so to change our emotions, we don’t change the emotions directly. First, we change our thoughts because our thoughts have a direct impact on our emotions!
Does that make sense?
It only makes sense that we get to the root of the emotion – our thoughts – and change them.
The only tricky thing is that each of us have thinking patterns and thinking habits which are stored in the subconscious mind, so it takes an even deeper approach to unlock that.
But luckily, the approach itself isn’t complicated once you understand it.
In fact, it’s something that anyone can utilize.
And because of its simplicity, I like to call it a hack.
And that is… neuro-linguistic programming (otherwise known as NLP).
Tapping into neuro-linguistic programming is like being given a handbook for how the mind works, and making connections to reprogram it.
If you’re ready to tap into this, you’ll want to join me and our 2 NLP experts, Naomi & Rami Bareket on the next episode of The Power Of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
If you missed the interview (part 1) last week, you can click here to watch it.
And then be sure to join us on Saturday, April 9th at 11am (ET) to get the inside scoop on how YOU can utilize NLP in your personal and professional life!
You’ll be glad you did.
