A question we all ask...
by Holly LanesmithWhat do you do when your significant other, your family (or your friends), don’t support you?
This is a question I get asked all the time, and it’s one I had to tackle myself back when I ventured off to start my cleaning business.
Many of you know my story, but for those of you who don’t, or who haven’t been acquainted with me for very long, let me share a small piece of it with you...
Picture this: I was young, in my 20’s, sitting at the dinner table with my family: my mom, my siblings, my uncle, my grandmother— when I decided to share my exciting news—exciting for me, that was— that I was going to start my own cleaning company.
Before anyone could say anything, all you could hear were the sounds of forks dropping. The first comment made was, “How are you gonna do that? Where are you gonna get the money?”
And then, something along the lines of… “You barely know how to pick up after yourself now, how do you think you’ll make it in the cleaning industry?”
The truth: my family couldn’t see my potential. I don’t share this with you with a bitter heart. Truth be told, they didn’t know better. They genuinely couldn’t see my potential. They didn’t know that there was more for me.
Have you ever felt like that? Have you ever felt like people whom you trust for support instead share all the reasons why your dream won’t work?
What do you do to move forward in your dream when you feel like the people closest to you don’t support you?
I shared the answer to this question last week in a Q&A episode in my Fully Resourced series. You can listen to my answer (and the entire episode) by clicking here.
I’d also like to encourage you to tune in this Saturday for our next episode in this series. I’ll be taking it a step further and sharing more ways that you can truly live out your God-given potential as a fully-resourced being who co-creates with God — because truly, that’s what you’ve been designed to be. You’ve been given dominion to create a purposeful life that you desire. It’s just a matter of walking in that.
So, I invite you to join me this Saturday.
Be sure you tune in at 9:30 am (ET) Saturday on the Empowered Living platform, right here.
