Here’s how to prepare for the New Year...
by Holly LanesmithCan you believe it’s November already?
The last couple of months have flown by, haven’t they?
We’re less than 2 months away from New Year's Day, and with everything going on during the holidays, it’ll be here before we know it.
So, as you prepare for the new year, let me ask you this question: have you already begun to brainstorm what you want 2022 to look like for you and your family?
Have you taken the time to set some goals- some plans to bring that dream into reality?
You might be reading this shaking your head, thinking, “Paul, New Years is still 2 months away! I have plenty of time between now and then. I don’t have to start goal setting yet. I’ll set goals once we get to January.”
If you’re thinking that, let me first just say I hear you. I’ve been there too. People usually associate the New Year with goal setting and planning.
But here’s what I’ve learned: time sneaks up on you and if you wait until January to start making plans for 2022, you’re already behind.
The new year is a natural reset time for all of us, but you have to plan for that to really leverage it to the fullest.
NOW is the time to start thinking into your next level.
And if you’re telling yourself you don’t anticipate making plans to reach your next level, let me ask you a simple question: why not?
As spiritual beings, we are always seeking fuller expression and fuller expansion.
There’s always been and always will be something inside of us that desires more, that knows deep down, we can create more for ourselves to have a greater impact on this world.
There are things we can do to become more efficient with how we spend our time...
There are ways we can adjust how we do things to generate more income...
There are habits we can adopt to take better care of our physical body temple...
There are pieces of ourselves that we can develop to connect better with our spouse, our friends, our coworkers... the list goes on...
When it comes down to it, goal setting and goal achievement are natural expressions of who we are.
So let me ask you these 3 simple questions to help you start thinking into your next level…
- What does your next level look like? (Remember, your next level may look different from mine, your neighbor’s, or your best friend’s. Think intrinsically. What is it that YOU want to create? Don’t get caught up thinking about what’s expected of you...)
- What do you want your financial situation to look like in 2022? How much more money do you plan on saving or earning? How much more money do you plan on giving? (Setting financial goals is a great place to start building your dream, because it creates more options and freedom for you and affects many aspects of life.)
- What is one thing from 2021 that you need to let go of? (We often focus on what we can add to our lives, but we can’t make room for growth if we are holding onto things that don’t serve us anymore. What do you need to leave behind in 2021?)
I encourage you to spend as much time as you need this week pondering these questions. And begin writing down some answers to them to help you reach your next level in 2022.
I’m here with you every step of the way.
