Let me tell you a secret...by Holly Lanesmith
Can I tell you a secret of mine? Truthfully, it’s not really a secret. It’s something that’s been proven over and over again.
I have learned that using stories to connect with people is one way (if not the very best way) to make connections. It is a way to influence people to move in the direction of their dreams, to help people take the next step, and to build relationships that last.
If you think about it, we all live our lives through stories. If you think back to your favorite memories, there are stories you are telling yourself about things that happened in the past
We share stories; we exchange stories; we laugh and cry around stories.
Stories are powerful. They evoke strong emotions in us. They cause us to look inward and to discover new parts of ourselves that we weren’t aware of before.
Over the last number of months, I’ve shared a few stories with you about my family, particularly about my mom and my stepdad, Mike.
I’ve shared stories about the process they’re going through as they age, and the process my siblings and I are going through as we seek to find the best ways to care for them and to make sure their needs are provided for.
I’ve shared these stories with you, and it’s been interesting and heartwarming to see the outpouring of support and connection that I have received from you.
So many of you have reached out and shared similar stories about your parents and grandparents, about challenges you’re facing, to simply thank me for sharing, and to express support.
It truly means the world to me to receive those messages. It really does.
So I’m going to be honest here. Me sharing stories with you is not just for the sake of sharing the story to get your attention or your sympathy.
I’m using stories in this way to build a relationship with you. These emails are going out to tens of thousands of individuals, and there’s no way I can have personal conversations with every single one of you.
Yet, I’m able to build a relationship with you by sharing stories, by hearing your responses when you feel prompted to respond, and by just maintaining regular contact with you throughout your week.
Now, let me share a little business strategy with you because that’s what this is at the end of the day. It’s genuine, in that I do intentionally want to share my life with you and stories with you.
And it’s strategic, in that I’m running a business, and one of the things I offer are solutions to help people run their businesses and break free from limitations. I help them reach for new goals in their lives.
And by building a relationship with you, by connecting with you in a way that meets you where you’re at, I know I am more likely to be able to help you move forward in your life.
So, these messages that I send you are truly genuine and strategic. And if you’re in business—
and many of you are— if you’re a coach, a speaker or a trainer, you have to connect with your audience too.
The only problem is, so many people starting out in this business don’t think they have stories that are good enough. They don’t think they have stories that their audience will lean into.
But that’s simply not true. Each of us has experiences and stories that we can all learn from.
But you have to know how to tell the story in a way that connects with someone emotionally and compels them to action.
…And it’s actually a lot simpler than you think it is to share your stories in such a manner.
Though it’s simple, many people don’t know how. And it’s truly essential that you develop this skill. Otherwise, you simply won’t be able to make those connections that you want to and need to make to build a sustainable business.
If you have solid content and resources, once you connect with someone and make those resources available to them, people are going to lean in more and more. And they’re going to want more and more. When you’re adding value to people, they respond positively! It’s just how it works!
So, where can you learn this process of connecting with your audience, even if you don’t have an audience yet? How can you build your audience and utilize high-quality content mixed with magnetism to keep people coming back for more?
I’m excited to share with you an opportunity to learn from people who are some of the best in business.
I’ve put together a workshop with guest speakers Joseph McClendon III (Tony Robbins’ #1 stage teaching partner for the last 30 years who has taught in front of more than 5 million people live), and Mike Kim (branding expert and copywriter extraordinaire).

Together, the three of us are going to be sharing how you can build your list, connect with your audience in a deep, meaningful way, and provide rich content that keeps them coming back to you for more. I’m including one of my signature teaching licenses for you to use.
Because once you give someone a taste of growth and you’re the one who helps open their eyes, they’re going to see you as the answer to their next step and next step after that. They’re going to feel the magnetism that you project, and they’re going to want more.
Growth is addictive in a sense (in a good way!).
All of this has been put together and is available to you at a killer offer at only $79 (retail value of $750).
This workshop ALSO includes 2 hours of LIVE, open Q&A with me, next Saturday, June 26th.
So, you get several hours of world-class teaching from Joseph McClendon III, Mike Kim, and myself, with the opportunity to go through this entire workshop ahead of time; plus, you get time to connect on a Zoom call with me next Saturday so I can answer your questions and really help you put this into play in your business.
