If you are in sales long enough, there will come a time when you’ve been working incredibly hard, but the results aren’t reflecting your efforts. I understand how frustrating that can be and I want you to know that a sales slump happens to everyone, even the best of us.
I remember when I was going door to door to sell my cleaning business services and I went three weeks straight without one sale. It seemed like everything that used to work suddenly stopped and that everyone in the city got a memo not to buy from me.
What helped me through that time was looking back on my past successes and replaying the entire sales process in my head. I wasn’t looking for “What did I do?,” I was looking for “How did I feel?”
I found a pattern of emotional expectancy. At the times of my longest and most rewarding sales streaks, I had a level of emotional expectancy, and I had lost that. The sales motivation was there but the spirit wasn’t.
At this point, I was simply going through the motions and approaching my sales as if it was a numbers game and that I didn’t have any impact on the outcome. That isn’t true. We always have great influence on our outcomes in life, especially in the sales process.
If you’re struggling right now, I’d encourage you to jump in on one of our live sales calls this week and ask our trainer for some help.
Sometimes even a small interruption in our patterns helps us reset. There are so many times where just a few words of advice and encouragement is all it takes to break the negative flow of energy that we create and attract when we are in a slump.
Remember, the sales journey is one with ups and downs. The important thing is to stay focused on the process and not get discouraged by temporary setbacks. Your hard work, sales training, and persistence will pay off, even if it doesn’t seem that way right now.
